Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly considering making an approach for Laurent Blanc should his £40million move for Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola fall through.

Abramovich has made Guardiola his top target to replace Andre Villas-Boas, who was sacked earlier this month, and a report inThe Sun on Friday morning claimed the Barca coach would be offered a staggering £40million over four years to quit Camp Nou this summer and move to Stamford Bridge.

But according to The Times, Laurent Blanc is the Russian billionaire's other option to take charge of the Blues this summer.

Guardiola's £10million-a-year deal - after tax - would see him become the highest-paid manager in football.

The Spaniard is out of contract at Barca at the end of the season and he is yet to commit his future to the Catalans.

Blanc, who is currently in charge of the France national side, is also out of contract this summer and is widely expected to be replaced after Euro 2012.

Chelsea are not believed to have contacted Blanc yet about the position, but it is thought he would be keen on taking over, although Inter Milan are also showing interest.

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho, who was in charge of Chelsea from 2004-2007, remains the bookmakers' favourite to succeed Villas-Boas.
